Sinus Infections

Sinuses are the hollow spaces or cavities near the bones in the skull around the nose. Sinus infection, or sinusitis, is an inflammation of the sinuses and nasal passages. A Sinus infection can cause a headache or pressure in the eyes, nose, cheek area, or on one side of the head. A viral infection causes damage to the cells of the sinus lining, which leads to inflammation.

Fungus infection is known to cause Sinus infection. There are also various kinds of bacteria that can also cause sinus infections. In addition the cilia, which are small hairs in the nasal passages and sinus cavities that help to move mucous out of the nasal area, can get damaged by smoke, lack of humidity or other causes.

There are different kinds of sinuses: frontal sinuses, maxillary sinuses ethmoid sinuses, and sphenoid sinuses.  There are three kinds of sinus attacks: acute (up to three weeks), chronic (three to eight weeks or more), and recurring (frequent attacks within a year).

There are other types of sinus infection symptoms,  sinus pain can be felt along the side of the nose. You may also feel some pain or pressure around the inner corner of the eye. The greatest amount of pain from the symptoms will manifest itself in your frontal sinus areas. In general when you are suffering any form of sinus infection symptoms, pain in this area it will manifest itself as a headache. The other forms of sinus infection symptoms that you will encounter when you are suffering from sinus infections is that of aching jaws and tender cheeks.

These various sinus infection symptoms are your body’s way of letting you know there is some imbalance that you will need to correct and fast.
